Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo – Review

“Opportunities wait for no one! If you let an opportunity slip through your fingers with an excuse like, “I wasn’t prepared.” You’ll never get another opportunity like that again! But it is your life. Live it the way you want.”
-Kanda Sorata

The school romantic comedy revolves around a second-year high school student named Sorata Kanda who lives in Sakurasou, the dormitory for problem children at Sorata’s school. One day, Mashiro Shiina—a cute girl who happens to be also a cosmopolitan, brilliant artist—moves into Sakurasou.

Sorata thinks to himself that he should protect Mashiro from the weirdos at Sakurasou, but Mashiro has a surprising secret: she has no idea how to take care of herself. She gets lost if she goes out, and her room is a complete mess. Sorata’s dorm mates designate him as the “master” of Mashiro, and thus, an ordinary boy and a brilliant girl must live like “a master and his pet.”

Before I start with this review. Did you know that the voice actor of Sora (from No Game No Life) shares the same voice of Sorata and the voice actress of Shiro (from No Game No Life also) shares the same voice of Mashiro, the main characters of Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo.

A rom-com anime, I guess you know what happens when there is a rom-com genre of an anime, right? The SHIP has sail!, something like that. But this anime is quite different, although it has romance and funny scenes, it never fails to give us those feely feel feels. Yeah, people really like to break other people’s hearts.

Sakurasou is a dorm wherein people who live there are weirdos. Kanda Sorata, the main protagonist of the story, was forced to move to Sakurasou because he kept on finding stray cats and he kept on bringing those cats to his regular dorm. The regular dorm didn’t allow pets, so Sorata was forced to move out and was forced to move to Sakurasou.

One day, a white girl moved into Sakurasou, her name was Mashiro Shiina. Suprisingly, this girl is actually also a weirdo. So, Sorata decided to take care of her, little did he know that that girl is actually the Mashiro Shiina, who’s actually a genius when it comes to the world of arts.

I’ll just introduce the two main characters because each of the other characters in this anime has their own unique personality. Well, the story of this anime is basically just the story of other high school guys, planning on what career you will take when you graduate from high school and the like. But this time, it’s a high school life wherein your friends are weirdos. Also, this time the story has a factor where things won’t go as you planned it would be, you could say that it’s not really that easy on planning what career you will have.

Overall, this anime was really enjoyable and really fun to watch. A nice laugh is a good way to balance those feels, wait this anime also has “feels”, prepare the tissues! So, since this anime is a rom-com. I’ll give my ship, Mashiro x Sorata all the way!

No Game No Life – Review

No Game No Life is a surreal comedy that follows Sora and Shiro, shut-in NEET siblings and the online gamer duo behind the legendary username “Kuuhaku.” They view the real world as just another lousy game; however, a strange e-mail challenging them to a chess match changes everything—the brother and sister are plunged into an otherworldly realm where they meet Tet, the God of Games.

The mysterious god welcomes Sora and Shiro to Disboard, a world where all forms of conflict—from petty squabbles to the fate of whole countries—are settled not through war, but by way of high-stake games. This system works thanks to a fundamental rule wherein each party must wager something they deem to be of equal value to the other party’s wager. In this strange land where the very idea of humanity is reduced to child’s play, the indifferent genius gamer duo of Sora and Shiro have finally found a real reason to keep playing games: to unite the sixteen races of Disboard, defeat Tet, and become the gods of this new, gaming-is-everything world.

(Source: MyAnimeList Rewrite)

The setting of this anime is in a world where all is settled by playing games. Sora and Shiro are both NEET, which means they don’t have a job. They are online gamers, basically they are duo online gamers, their username are left blank. They are known to be really powerful in online games an is still known to be undefeated throughout the whole series.

A strange email was sent to their computer. It’s a challenge to a game of chess. After they beat the to whoever that challenged Sora and Shiro, they were transferred to another world wherein all is settled by playing high-stake games. This world have each of their own different races. Humanity or Imanity is at the bottom. In order to challenge the God of Games, you must challenge the other races and take their race piece.

In this world, they met Tet, the God of Games. Tet explained the Ten Pledges of this world.

Ten Pledges:
1. All murder, war, and robbery is forbidden in this world.
2. All conflict in this world will be resolved through games.’
3. In games, each player will bet something that they agree is of equal value.
4. As long as it doesn’t violate pledge three, anything may be bet, and any game may be played.
5. The challenged party has the right to decide the rules of the game.
6. Any bets made in accordance with the pledges must be upheld.
7. Conflicts between groups will be conducted by designated representatives with absolute authority.
8. Being caught cheating during a game is grounds for an instant loss.
9. In the name of god, the previous rules may never be changed.
10. Let’s all have fun and play together!

So, despite this anime having too much ecchi, well not that much ecchi but it does have some ecchi in it. The story is good and suprisingly enjoyable, although the story is really simple, it does involve some thinking because of how they handle their way of playing games. If you would be put in this world, the thing you would need is strategy. As long as you have strategy in this world, you will not lose any bets. Too bad that this anime has only has 12 episodes, this anime seriously needs a Season 2, because the ending of this anime is a huge cliffhanger, a really huge cliffhanger.

Charlotte, Episode 7 Review

It’s been a week since this episode was released but I’m still going to give this episode a review because the amount of feels of this about is too damn high.

So, it has been confirmed –SPOILER ALERT- Ayumi is dead, yeah that’s right, she is dead, no more pizza sauce nano desu . I’m still thinking that Ayumi is not dead but who knows. Maybe she was being experimented by the scientists or she is really dead. So it’s a 50/50 chance that she is dead or alive.

Now, what happened to Yu? I can say that he really got depressed. The change of his attitude and personality was really big. Is this the effect of losing someone you love? Guys, do you relate with Yu? Because in my opinion, this is a real case scenario when you lose someone you love, you do things that you aren’t supposed to do and you get really depressed and want to be alone.

The feels factor here is off the limits. It’s 9001 (if you get it, I highly respect you). I was glad that Nao stopped Yu from doing drugs, because that is the last thing you will do before you start to lose yourself. Then it became sadder when Nao invited Yu to eat some food. Nao prepared an egg omelet, of course with the Otosaka’s Secret Family Sauce.

Nao said that Yu just needed to take one bite then he can do whatever he wants. Yu ended up eating the whole thing. Now, Yu decided to come back to the Student Council. Smart move Nao, smart move indeed. Great episode we have here, really enjoyed this episode because this episode made a hole in my heart, really, thanks.

Attack on Titan Live Action Movie: Part 1 – Review

I finally decided to watch this movie. Now the first thing that I’m gonna say, I need the part 2 now! Part 2 will not come out until September. So more and more and more waiting for me, Yay! (sarcasm intensifies)

My impression for this movie is neither good nor bad, just normal. A lot of people were saying that it was bad, well I can understand why some people call it bad. The story is rushed, the acting was ok but in my opinion, it needs some improvement, ok, here is one thing that I questioned myself. There were like vehicles in the movie, where are the horses? This was like the long time ago, they mixed in some modern stuffs, I mean, I think I saw a scene where they used a modern gun.

The titans in my opinion needs more improvement, they look a lot like humans and was not really that creepy. Maybe some little tweaks and some improvements will be ok to make those titans more creepy.

Some characters from the anime were not here in the movie. Well this is a live action movie, so it’s only natural that some characters would not be included. But where is Levi? Seriously guys, no Levi? I seriously want Eren to get beaten up by Levi again lol.

My mind is battling wherein if the effects was good or not. I guess I’ll go with the middle. It needs more improvements because the effects didn’t stand out too well. But the blood was really realistic, I like the blood effects in my opinion, yeah, just the blood.

Changes in the story here, changes in the story there. Story was changed big time. Let’s just wait for the part 2 and let’s see on how they will adapt with the new storyline. So I will give the part 1 of this movie a rating of 7/10.

Tokyo Ghoul – Review

“Why is it that the beautiful things are entwined more deeply with death than with life?”
-Kaneki Ken

The suspense horror/dark fantasy story is set in Tokyo, which is haunted by mysterious “ghouls” who are devouring humans. People are gripped by the fear of these ghouls whose identities are masked in mystery. An ordinary college student named Kaneki encounters Rize, a girl who is an avid reader like him, at the café he frequents. Little does he realize that his fate will change overnight.

I made a blog about this anime long ago, but it was about the comparison of the anime and the manga. For now, I’ll just make a review about the anime.

Tokyo Ghoul is a story wherein a world is inhabited by ghouls. Ghouls are man-eating creatures that have the same appearance to humans, which is why they can blend into the human society. The only thing that a ghoul can eat is human flesh, human foods taste awful to them and is bad for their health if it is absorbed by their body. They can not be harmed by simple weapons such as knives, they can only be harmed by the weapons of the Ghoul Investigators, called Quinque.

Kaneki Ken, is a simple human boy who loves to read novels. I’m going to cut to the chase, Kaneki turned into a ghoul because a ghoul organ was transplanted into his body system. Making him a half-human half-ghoul.

He later found out about Anteiku, a coffee shop wherein ghouls are the main workers there. The workers of Anteiku helps ghouls who are in trouble, Kaneki decided to work there. Kaneki still believes that he is a human and still decides to not eat human-flesh, but later on the story, he can no longer keep himself as being a human.

Ghouls have what you call Kagunes, which are blood cells which turn into solid (as hard as a teeth). These Kagunes have many types and each ghoul have one. If a ghoul ate a human flesh, it’s Kagune will strengthen and it will become more powerful. So, human flesh acts as a fuel to power up the Kagune. Kagunes act as their main weapon to fight against Ghoul Investigators.

Ghoul Investigators hunt ghouls and kill them using their Quinques. Quinque is a special type of weapon wherein it has the same factor of Kagunes.

So, in my opinion, the story of Tokyo Ghoul is great but the delivery of the anime from the manga was not that quite good. It was really rushed, but I find it weird that I actually enjoyed it at the same time. So this is what happens when you try to fit a 120+ chapter manga into a 12 episodes anime.

Death Note – Review

“I’ll take a potato chip AND EAT IT!”
-Yagami Light

Yagami Light is a 17-year-old genius from Japan who is tired of his life, school, and the state of the world as he knows it. One day, on the way home from class, Light stumbles upon a dark notebook with “Death Note” written on the front. Intrigued by its appearance, Light reads the first few sentences, only to find out that it states that anyone whose name is written inside will die. Discarding it as a joke, Light continues his daily activities. Soon after though, his human curiosity takes the better of him and prompts Light to try the notebook, discovering the truth behind the first sentence. Now, with power in his hands, Yagami Light is on a quest to change the world and become God of the New World. His path to holy status won’t be easy however, as another genius, known as L, is working against Light’s beliefs and Light himself. Who will win this power of Gods between humans?

Death Note is one of those long animes that you will surely enjoy. Although this type of anime is not for everybody, it’s a good starter if you’re new into watching anime.

The story starts when Yagami Light found a strange notebook when he was at school. The notebook was titled “Death Note”. It’s written in the notebook that the name of a person written in the notebook shall die, although It will not take effect if you don’t know the person’s face, so people sharing the same name will not be affected.

At first, Light didn’t believe the notebook, but he tried it when he watched a news about a criminal case. Suprisingly, the criminal died but he wasn’t convinced well enough. Second, he tried it when he was inside a convenience store, Light saw some gang members, I think, that was harassing a girl. Then one of the gang member died of a car accident. After that incident, Light believed on the power of the Death Note.

He decided to write the names of the criminal in this world, his dad is a police so, Light must have hacked into his Dad’s computer. Then after writing several criminal names, a Shinigami appeared before Light. Ryuk, was the Shinigami’s name and He is the owner of the Death Note. Ryuk explained everything about who ever uses the Death Note. A human who used the Death Note can neither go to heaven nor hell. Plus, when the wielder of the Death Note dies, the Shinigami will write their name in the Shinigami’s Death Note.

Now, what is Light’s ambition in using the Death Note? Light wants to change the world by using the power of the Death Note. Light said that the world will be better off if all the rotten people died, even if it means sacrificing one’s own life or soul. So, Light wants all the evil people to die. You could say that Light is the anti-hero here of this anime.

So, although this anime gave me some “wat” because it’s quite confusing. Well, because it has a mystery genre, so expect some really confusing puzzles. Light’s enemy you say? Well, of course the police, but it’s not just a normal battle of investigating, the battle of Light and the police was really epic because of the really good story.

A short description for the start of this anime up to the end (if you have reached the ending):
All of this happened because of a simple boredom.

Haruchika: Haruta to Chika wa Seishun Suru, Key Visual Released

From the same producer of Charlotte and Angel Beats, comes a new anime series titled Haruchika: Haruta to Chika wa Seishun Suru. The art looks cute and amazing, I like the art style, it’s really relaxing and gives a great atmosphere. It will be released on January 2016, still a long way to go and lots and lots of waiting.

The anime is based on the novel series HaruChika by Sei Hatsuno. I still don’t know the story because I just recently found this information today. But I hope that this would be a good anime series.

You can read more information about the anime here:

Durarara!! x2 Ten, Episode 7 Review

This episode was really awesome, we got to see some of Mikado’s dark side. Mikado is starting to really change, he is getting more badass for each episode, well although he have little to no screen time, his personality changes bit by bit. I didn’t expect that he was the one that was wearing the mask.

So the stalker, finally decided to make a move. I seriously thought that Shinra will die in this episode because of the ending of Episode 6. Well, rest assured, he didn’t die. Celty made it in time to take Shinra to the hospital. The stalker will be in trouble if he would be found out.

Now, one awesome thing happened today. Kida finally came back to Ikebukuro, and also he met one of a Blue Square member wearing a mask which is fighting the stalker, that Blue Square member is actually Mikado. Finally ! It’s really going good for each episode. Kida is again trying to form again the Yellow Scarves. So, what are your thoughts? I think that there is one hell of a gang war that is going to happen. I’m guessing that Mikado will become a manipulator just like Izaya.

Razer Store Manila Opening: Part 2

IMG_20150815_131326

We finally got inside the mall along with our new gamer friends that we met. So, the first thing we did was to line up again. There were also lots and lots of people inside. We noticed that some people already have their freebies and we asked the securities on how they got the freebies. They told us that it was given before we should enter the line. So me and my classmates went out from the line and tried to get our free goodies. All the freebies were almost gone but we managed to get a free Razer T-shirt.

After we got our freebies, we decided to go back to the line but the securities won’t allow us. Then our new gamer friends told the security that we were groups, we just went out to get our freebies, so the securities let us go in. To the new friends we made, we really owe you guys a lot, really really really a lot. If it weren’t for you guys, we won’t be able to go back to the line. So, we really thank you guys!

Now the line started to move where they allow the fans to go inside the Razer Store and of course, the free Razer Kraken Pro Neon! Ashley and Alodia Gosiengfiao were cosplayer guests there and to also do autographs to the people who fell in line. We finally got inside the store and we now received our free Razer Kraken Pro Neon, with autographs of Ashley and Alodia Gosiengfiao! All the hard work really paid off.
