Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood – Review

“People cannot gain anything without sacrificing something. You must present something of equal value in order to gain something. That is the principle of equivalent exchange in alchemy.”

In this world there exist alchemists, people who study and perform the art of alchemical transmutation, to manipulate objects and transform one object into another. They are bounded by the basic law of alchemy: in order to gain something you have to sacrifice something of the same value.

The main character is the famous alchemist Edward Elric, also known as the Fullmetal Alchemist, who almost lost his little brother, Alphonse, in an alchemical accident. Edward managed to attach his brother’s soul to a large suit of armor. While he did manage to save his brother’s life, he paid the terrible price of his limbs.

To get back what they’ve lost, the brothers embark on a journey to find the Philosopher’s Stone that is said to amplify the powers of an alchemist enormously; however, on the way, they start uncovering a conspiracy that could endanger the entire nation, and they realize the misfortunes brought upon by the Philosopher’s Stone.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a re-telling of the story from the manga’s point of view.

So I decided to give FMA: Brotherhood a try when it was summer vacation and I was surprised because it was really good. Although it’s really long, you won’t get bored by watching it. FMA: Brotherhood has an alternative version which is made before the manga ended. It is titled “Fullmetal Alchemist,” people said that it has a different ending from the FMA: Brotherhood series (I didn’t watch the first anime adaptation, I started on the FMA: Brotherhood).

Now that the manga has ended, the producers decided to make a remake which is titled “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.” This remake follows the original story of the manga up to the end.

Alchemy (Renkinjutsu) is, as it is understood in the Fullmetal Alchemist series, the ancient metaphysical science/mystical art of manipulating and altering matter by using natural energy. This act is known as “Transmutation” and its sequence is usually described as:
1.Comprehension – Understanding the inherent structure and properties of the atomic or molecular makeup of a particular material to be transmuted, including the flow and balance of potential and kinetic energy within.
2.Deconstruction – Using energy to break down the physical structure of the identified material into a more malleable state so as to be easily reshaped into a new form.
3.Reconstruction – Continuing the flow of energy so as to reform the material into a new shape.

Edward Elric is the protagonist of the Fullmetal Alchemist series. He lost his right arm and left leg due to a failed Human Transmutation attempt, Ed then decided to become a State Alchemist. He is the youngest State Alchemist in history by achieving his certification at age twelve. Three years later, Ed has found something that can restore his right arm and left leg and his younger brother Alphonse, whose whole body had been lost in the aftermath of that tragic event.

The Legendary Philosoper’s Stone is a powerful transmutation amplifier appearing in both the anime and manga. Due to the absolute law of alchemy being equivalent exchange, the stone gives the illusion that someone is able to override that law.

Ok, I’m gonna say it. This anime is a masterpiece. I don’t know if the story is rushed because I didn’t read the manga, but it was really well done. The story is really unique and it’s deserving to be one of the top anime. The animation is soothing to the eyes and makes you feel relaxed when you watch it. It has a different kind of world of the previous anime that I watch and it has a unique kind atmosphere that makes the story really interesting. It does involve a little of science stuffs so expect some chemical elements will be mentioned LOL (No, seriously, some chemical elements are mentioned in this anime).

Ok, I’ll stop the review here because the story is really complex. Try giving it a try if you have some spare time and I’m sure you won’t regret watching this anime.

Ansatsu Kyoushitsu gets a TV anime series sequel

The official Twitter account for Yusei Matsui’s Shonen Jump hit Assassination Classroom (Ansatsu Kyoushitsu) has revealed that the anime’s second season will begin in 2016.

(Source: Haruhichan Network)

I’m really glad that this anime gets a 2nd season. Well, while the anime hasn’t been finished yet, around halfway before the ending, they already announced that a second season will be in production. This shows how the anime is really popular to the anime community.

I only red the manga up to chapter 88, I skipped some chapters because I first watched the anime but I guess it doesn’t really make much of a difference, some say that there are some scenes in the manga that doesn’t show up in the anime but I’m fine with that, I’m planning to continue reading it if I have some spare time. The manga is still ongoing (Chapter 145 is the latest release). So it will most likely have a 20+ episodes again or maybe a season 3.

Well it’s scheduled to be aired on 2016 so it’s a long long long way to go. So if you are really impatient, try reading the manga. If you want to skip and head over from where the last episode has ended, I think chapter 71 is the final episode of Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (Episode 22). More months to go and lots and lots of waiting to go. Looking forward for the 2nd season of Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (Assassination Classroom).

Ansatsu Kyoushitsu, Finished Airing.

A humorous and action-packed story about a class of misfits who are trying to kill their new teacher—an alien octopus with bizarre powers and super strength! The teacher has just destroyed the moon and is threatening to destroy the earth—unless his students can destroy him first. What makes things more complicated is that he’s the best teacher they’ve ever had!

(Source: Viz Media)

This is one of the anime that I watched that has an original and unique plot. The story starts with an alien octopus that destroyed the moon. The alien octopus then decided to become a teacher at Kunugigaoka Junior High School. The Class 3-E or simply Class E is the lowest class of Kunugigaoka Junior High School are the ones selected to have their new octopus teacher. They only have one job to do, which is ordered by the government, it is to kill their teacher before they graduate. Class 3E is nicknamed the “E-as-in-End Class” and consists of students who either failed to keep their grades up or were punished for breaking school regulations.

Koro-sensei is the central character and main antihero of Assassination Classroom (Ansatsu Kyoushitsu). Korosensei claimed to be responsible for creating the permanent crescent moon and said that he plans to destroy the earth after “teaching” Class 3-E for a year. He can move at Mach 20 speed (13, 000 miles per hour or 20 times the speed of sound, no wonder the government can’t kill him).

Koro-sensei can only be harmed by BB bullets, created specially in America for harming him, these BB bullets are harmless to the students.

This anime is really enjoyable to watch, it has nice animations which gives it a unique and calm aura. The soundtracks was also really good, especially the ending, I really liked the ending song because of the calm atmosphere it gives. It has a nice and original plot and it has some good life lessons that you can learn from this anime. So give it a try if you feel like it.

Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku, Finished Airing.

“Fake people have an image to maintain. Real people just don’t care.”
-Hikigaya Hachiman

So exactly what’s going to happen when Hachiman Hikigaya, an isolated high school student with no friends, no interest in making any and a belief that everyone else’s supposedly great high school experiences are either delusions or outright lies, is coerced by a well meaning faculty member into joining the one member “Services Club” run by Yukino Yukinoshita, who’s smart, attractive and generally considers everyone in her school to be her complete inferior?
(Source: Crunchyroll)

The second season of Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru (or Oregairu for short) had a different producer. So the animation changed quite a lot. You will notice it when you watch the first season. Although the animation changed, the animation have improved quite a lot, the sound effects were great and the voice actors did a great job portraying each of the character roles.

Now, let’s go with the story. The story did a great job continuing the cliffhanger the first season left to us. New characters are introduced that made another story but it think it wasn’t really rushed (I don’t read the light novel so I don’t know if it is rushed or not).

Hikigaya Hachiman is an antisocial high school student with a distorted view on life and no friends or girlfriend. He is a member of the “Services Club” who helps people on their problems, depending on their request. Another members are Yukinoshita Yukino and Yuigahama Yui.

In this anime, you will know that life (specifically in High School Life) will not go as expected as you think it would be. So what you might be expecting in your life will go all wrong, will go as you wanted or will eventually screw up. The last episode kinda left us a cliffhanger, so I’m hoping that a third season will be made.

I really recommend this anime because it has a nice story and good character developments. But you should first start on the first season titled “Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru” because you will understand the story of the second season more if you watched the prequel. So give it a try if you have some spare time.

New Steins;Gate sequel titled “Steins;Gate 0”

“I’m the great mad scientist, Hououin Kyoma!”
-Rintarou Okabe

A new sequel title “Steins;Gate 0” has been announced which is a sequel to the “Steins; Gate” visual novel game. The game will be launched on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PS Vita on November 19 (Woah, so close to my birthday which is November 21). It will also have an anime adaptation also titled “Steins;Gate 0.”

Now, let’s have a short recap on the previously adapted anime TV series of Steins; Gate.
The story of Steins;Gate takes place in Akihabara. It is about a group of friends who made a time machine-like device, a microwave that can send text messages to the past. They perform different experiments to learn more about time travelling and to expand their knowledge on time travelling, As they perform more and more experiments, an organization named SERN who has been doing their own research on time travel tracks them down and now the characters are put in a situation in which they have to find a way to avoid being captured by them.

The visual novel of Steins;Gate got high ratings because of it’s good storyline. ( I want to play the visual novel so badly).
9.2/10· MyAnimeList.net
8.9/10· IMDb
4.5/5· Metacritic

I watched the anime and I will say that it was really mind-blowing. There are really confusing parts which requires you to focus more for you to understand the story. First episode was really confusing but as you go further and further, you will understand the story little by little.
Ok, I’m gonna stop explaining the episodes here because I might accidentally write some spoilers (Beware of Spoilers).

Now, the sequel of the new anime adaptation and the new visual novel has a new story in it. I guess the sequel anime adaptation is a continuation of the movie of Steins;Gate.
Steins;Gate: Fuka Ryouiki no Déjà vu (the movie of the TV anime series “Steins;Gate”). This anime movie film takes place one year after the events of the anime series.

Ok, Spoiler Alert.

November 2010, the Beta World Line…

A story that unfolds after Rintarou Okabe returns, having failed to save “her” on July 28th. He had no idea that the system known as “Amadeus” would once again drag him into a world of dark conspiracy.

Yes, “she” is still there.

Steins;Gate 0 is set in the β (Beta) World Timeline of the novel. Maybe you don’t know what the Beta World Timeline is about. You will understand when you watch the anime or when you play the visual novel.

I’m really looking forward for this anime adaptation because the prequel has been one of my favorites of all time. It was really quite confusing at first because it’s a sci-fi anime but you will understand it if you pay close attention to it. I really wish I owned a PlayStation 3 or a PlayStation 4 or a PS Vita so I can play the game myself. But I’m sure that someday I will play the visual novel of Steins;Gate (SOMEDAY).

Jun is a girl whose words have been sealed away. She was once a very happy girl, but because of a certain thing she said when she was very young, her family was torn apart. One day, the egg fairy appeared in front of her and sealed away her ability to talk in order to stop her from hurting anybody else. Since this traumatic experience, Jun lives in the shadows away from the limelight. But, one day, she is nominated to become an executive member of the “community outreach council.” On top of that, Jun is also appointed to play the main lead in their musical…

From the staff members of Anohana:

  • Director: Tatsuyuki Nagai (Toaru Kagaku no Railgun, Toradora!)

  • Anime Character designer: Masayoshi Tanaka (High School of the Dead, Toradora!)

I watched the trailer of Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda and I felt that it has a same atmosphere with the anime AnoHana, well because they are the same staff members that made AnoHana. I don’t really have much information on this anime movie because I only knew this anime movie recently, but I guess it would be a good one.

Schedule of airing will be on September 19,2015. I guess it’s still being made by the staffs. So pack your stuff guys we’re going on a feels trip this next few months.

God Eater gets a TV Anime adaptation

Anime adaptation of Bandai Namco’s PSP action game series “God Eater.”

Set in Japan in the year 2071 where the world has been mostly destroyed by mysterious monsters known as the Aragami. An organization known as Fenrir was made to exterminate Aragami using weapons called God Arcs which is made from the cells of an Aragami. Those who specialize in exterminating Aragami are known as God Eaters. Originally God Eaters had one type in which their God Arcs can only keep gun form or blade form, however a new type has been discovered that can switch between gun and blade form. Since then, they have been classified new-types and the previous as old-types

Ok, let’s start with God Eater the game “God Eater Burst”. The gameplay is very similar to the Monster Hunter game. You create your own character and as you go further to the story you get to make many weapons of your choice. I found this game when I was surfing the net on which game to play on my PSP. I found God Eater and really enjoyed it. I like the story, the art, and the gameplay.

There is a sequel to the game which is title “God Eater 2.” I haven’t played it yet, but I really really really want to play it.

Another sequel was made titled “God Eater 2 Rage Burst”, but unfortunately it was made for PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4. (Noooooooooooooooooooo, I don’t own a PS Vita nor a PS4.) But I’m looking forward to playing the sequels of the game (If I had a PS Vita or a PS4 LOL).

Ok now let’s go with the anime. When I heard that God Eater was going to have an anime adaptation, I was really hyped because my favorite game when I was a child will be made into an anime. Plus, the animation is being done by ufotable, the producer who worked on the Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works and Fate Zero series. So the action will probably be pretty good and really awesome. The hype is real !

The plot is similar to Attack on Titan. A dystopian future where giant monsters rule the Earth. Humans inside a wall battling for their survival using giant-weapons. So if you liked Attack on Titan, you should try watching God Eater. God Eater (Anime) is set to be aired on July 5,2015. So just a few more weeks of waiting.
