The second season, which was initially announced in November 2014, was originally slated for 2016.

The first 25-episode season aired from April-September 2013. BothFunimation and Crunchyroll streamed the first season as it aired in Japan, and Funimation released the series on home video in 2014. The first season also inspired two compilation anime films in 2014 and 2015.

Hajime Isayama‘s original manga has also inspired numerous spinoff manga, several novel series, a two-part live-action film project, a spinoff live-action television series, and an OVA. Two of the spinoff manga —Attack on Titan: No Regrets and Attack on Titan: Junior High — received anime adaptations of their own.

Isayama launched the manga in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in 2009, and Kodansha published the 19th volume in Japan on April 8. Kodanshawill publish the 20th volume on August 9. Kodansha Comics publishes the manga in print in English, and it published the 18th volume on April 5. Crunchyroll also publishes the manga in English digitally as new chapters are published in Japan.

Finally, it has been announced, again, that the second season of Attack on Titan will be premiered on the 2017 of Spring. Ok, I believe that the premiere for the second season was delayed twice. First, it was supposed to be premiered on 2015, but later delayed to 2016, then later moved to 2017, which is the current and latest news for the second season.

I hope they cover more of the manga’s story because a lot of things happened in the manga. I didn’t read the manga yet, but I saw a lot of spoilers on my facebook newsfeed. Yep, the internet sure likes to give away spoilers. I also asked my friends who read the manga to tell me what happened in the latest chapters since I already know what happened to the story. I can’t help it lol.

I’m hoping that this is the final delay of the second season. Well, it’s fine by me if I’ll wait for another year or so, as long as the anime is amazing and really worth the wait. So, I have high expectations for this anime, because this is one of my favourite anime yet.

  1. I heard the reason they delay the anime is because the materials in the manga is not yet enough to make another 2 seasons length anime. If they forced it, there might too much filler. To be honest, sometimes Shingeki no Kyojin can be really boring due to the amount of political talks. And I think we will see that again in the second season.

    1. Well, I guess that explains the delay of the second season.
I hope the second season is not all about political talks. A balance of action and talk is necessary to make the anime good, but I think the majority of the viewers’ are looking forward for the action and also how the story goes.
