Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica – Review

“Make a contract with me, and become a magical girl!”

She has a loving family and best friends, laughs and cries from time to time… Madoka Kaname, an eighth grader of Mitakihara middle school, is one of those who lives such a life. One day, she had a very magical encounter. She doesn’t know if it happened by chance or by fate yet. This is a fateful encounter that can change her destiny—this is a beginning of the new story of the magical girls.

At first I thought that this will have a nice atmosphere, I was wrong! The cover of this anime is very misleading. Well you know what they say, don’t judge a book by it’s cover.

At the first few episodes you will think that this anime is like a moe anime because of the animation style but you’re wrong. In fact, the 3rd episode of this anime will leave you a great shock. From a very calm and soothing atmosphere turned fast into a dark atmosphere.

The story is pretty simple, Kyuubey grants wishes of young girls but in exchange they are turned into a magical girl. Girls who formed a contract with him are assigned with a task to defeat witches. He might seem to be a good guy at first but as you go further to the story, your expectation to this guy might change.

Madoka Kaname is the main protagonist of the story. She became a magical girl along with Sayaka Miki, Madoka’s friend. They meet Homura Akemi, Mami Tomoe, and Kyoko Sakura which is they are already contracted to Kyuubey to be a magical girl.

The ending was a really  mind blowing ending. You will be really confused and somewhat amazed at the same time. I mean it was really great, so here’s a picture of my soul when I finished Mahou Shoujo Madoka★ Magica.

The animations was great although it has a different kind of animation, it was great. But the only thing bothering me is when they go inside the portal, the animation is like wat. It’s like you’re on drugs or something. The sound effects were awesome and also the soundtracks, the opening theme song was really great.

So overall, I think if you’re getting bored in watching the first two episodes, you should give it a chance until you get to episode 3 because all will change when you reach that episode. I mean really really change, because you’ll never look at Mahou Shoujo Madoka★ Magica the same again.
